Our physicians and staff work with a team of specialists, including the primary care physician, radiologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists, to provide accurate diagnoses and treatment plans for your patients with head and neck tumors. Once the patient’s cancer has been effectively treated, our surgeons and staff can perform reconstructive surgeries to ensure that patients have as normal a recovery process as possible.
One of our research interests has been using polymer chemotherapy drugs that provide regional, rather than systemic, treatment for head and neck cancer, hence optimizing the benefits of chemotherapy with fewer systemic side effects. Dr Shikani did a research fellowship year at the Johns Hopk Hospital (2005-2006) where he developed his Triologic Thesis work on polymer chemotherapy for head and neck cancer*.
