Han G. Sohn MD, FACS

Han G. Sohn MD

 

 

Dr. Sohn received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from UCLA in 1991. He attended medical school at SUNY Downstate in New York, where he was voted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in his junior year, one of only eight students in his class. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1996, at the top of his class, and received his M.D. degree.

He completed his training at SUNY Downstate, serving as an intern, then as a resident, and finally as the chief resident. Along the way, he was the recipient of numerous awards and was named the Outstanding Resident. His research in the area of snoring and apnea, especially in children, earned him the first prize in a national competition.

His interests outside of medicine include fishing, golf, and astronomy.

  • Outstanding Resident Award, June 2001.
  • First Place – 2001 Resident Research Prize Competition American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, September 2001.
  • Outstanding Resident Award, April 2000.
  • Award for Excellence — Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, 1996.
  • Outstanding Medical Student — Department of Otolaryngology, 1996.
  • Chandler McCuskey Brooks Award for Outstanding Research In Physiology, 1996.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists Award for Academic Excellence and Achievement, 1996.
  • Alpha Omega Alpha, 1994.
